As we setup our classrooms, we begin to anticipate the arrival of our wonder-ful students and the excitement of a new school year ahead! What an amazing opportunity to reflect on former practices and continue to transform with the help of colleagues, social media, and other collaborative learning sessions.
After a lot of consideration, I have decided to take a break from instructing the York University Kindergarten AQ course. Though it is an experience that I look forward to and cherish, I am unable to physically commit to all of the hours knowing that I will be in my third trimester for most of the sessions. My apologies to all of the amazing participants who have emailed me in hopes of continuing their studies...
In the meantime, here are a few Fall offerings that can support your journey:
1. #CTInquiry
Are you interested in joining a free network that can inspire and guide your inquiry work throughout the school year?
Join us for our first session in Anamaria Ralph's classroom of the TDSB - Maurice Cody P.S. on Thursday, September 17th, 2015!
Download the flyer in pdf here.
More information on the #CTInquiry page.
2. TransformEd Fall Workshop:
Provocations, projects, and my pedagogical documentation process: Reflections of a five year journey transforming educational practices
For the past five years I have planned many different invitations for learning in hopes that they might lead to inquiry sparks. Learn more about how I provoked student thinking with several examples of project work and how these experiences were documented to support planning throughout the years.
Special guests include #FourEverInspired: Trista Dutt, Jocelyn Schmidt, Vanessa Bianchi as well as my SK/1 grade partners Heidi Theis and Sandra Foryszewski.
What will you gain from this session?
- provocation ideas from five years in the making
- inquiry project examples from five years
- seeing how various inquiry sparks were carried out and documented
- how documentation was used to support planning of next steps
- how the process of documenting evolved over time
- exposure to higher-order thinking questions that aligned with each project
- examples of uncovering the curriculum
- insights, experiences, and perspectives of educators in FDK, SK/1, Library, and Junior grades
- opportunity to ask questions at a point in the school year where you might have many
- inspiration for the coming months and year
