Fall workshop update + details!

Download the flyer in pdf here.

Good morning wonderful educators and families!  I hope that you are having a nice weekend and enjoying the wondrous colours of Fall with your loved ones!
Yesterday I took my son for an afternoon walk around Bond Lake in Richmond Hill.  It's so beautiful at this time of year!  Feeling grateful this week (each day actually) for moments such as these with Baby S who keeps growing up way too quickly!

I am also thankful to the educators who have decided to join Trista Dutt and I on our #yorkukaq journey of professional learning!  Together we are using the revised Kindergarten Program Document (2016) as the main focus for our readings, Twitterchats, and class discussions.  For those who are still asking, our course has reached the capacity of 40.  My sincerest apologies for being placed onto a waiting list...  Perhaps you might be interested in my upcoming workshop!
I have been getting some emails regarding the Saturday, November 19th, 2016 workshop on The Hundred Languages: Mini studio experiences and insights to support our understandings of integrated learning with the revised Kindergarten Program document (2016).

I wanted to give you an update on registrations and also provide that option here in this post, as a few interested participants had a tricky time finding it on the blog or accessing the paypal link.

Currently we have 7 tables that are full, and I'd like to announce that 10 tables will be our maximum in order to have space for all the hands-on learning that will surround us!  If you are interested in joining, please register before October 19th, 2016 so that you aren't disappointed.  With only 3 tables left, I cannot really predict how long these spots will last!  A month prior to our session, I will also be emailing out confirmations and important details.  Of course if you don't see this until a later date, you can email me here (joannemariebabalis@gmail.com) to inquire about the space.  I just need to provide our venue with the updated information and also ensure that I am prepared with the materials, centrepieces, certificates, handouts, giveaways, etc.

To read more about this session please scroll down below or visit the last blog post by clicking here.

REGISTER HERE:

The TransformEd Fall Workshop on Saturday, November 19th, 2015 from 8:30-1:00 p.m. (4.5 hours) with breakfast included costs $135.00 + HST.

Steps to help you register:

  1.  The "Buy Now" button is having some trouble. Click on this direct link that will take you straight to the checkout of this particular workshop.
  2.  No need to login or create a paypal account, unless you want to use an existing one.  Click on "Pay with Credit Card or Visa Debit" at the bottom.
  3. Add your information and to complete payment click on "pay now" at the bottom.
An email will be sent to you confirming your registration from paypal and will attach your receipt.  If you do not receive this confirmation (sometimes there are glitches), please contact joannemariebabalis@gmail.com.  A second email will come your way leading up to the session with any updated information and a receipt from TransformEd Consulting Services.

All sessions are non-refundable.  The banquet hall requires that the number of participants are confirmed, to ensure that they have adequate space, staffing, and food.  Even on a snow day, they do not provide our money back.  You may, however, give your spot to someone else and email me about the changes so that I may update my list.  Think of this like a ticket to a concert-once you register, your spot is confirmed.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Here is a look at my last TransformEd Workshop from Fall 2015 that I never got around to sharing:

I had fun partnering with @crayola and @louisekool & galt as well as a provocation by @h_theis and @evolvingeducator!

Looking back at this photo I was only a few months away from meeting Baby S!

TransformEd Workshop - Face2Face
The Hundred Languages: Mini studio experiences and insights to support our understandings of integrated learning with the revised Kindergarten Program document (2016)

Saturday, November 19th, 2016
8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (4.5 hours)
8:30 a.m. Registration/Breakfast
9:00 a.m. Opening Presentation
10:00 a.m. Mini studio experiences and time to be creative/collaborate
12:00 p.m. Closing Presentation
1:00 p.m. End time

Children learn in hundreds and thousands of different ways.  Why limit them to paper and pencil tasks?  In this experience-based session, participants will be introduced to several “mini studios” (or ateliers) to explore materials in new and creative ways.  They will learn strategies from artists to take back to the classroom, specifically around setting up similar provocations, and how to integrate the areas of the revised Kindergarten Program Document (2016).

What will you gain from this session?
  • Support with planning using the new Kindergarten Program Document (flow of the day, mini lessons, four frames, etc.)
  • Insights into inquiry project work
  • Tips for pedagogical documentation
  • Inspiration from Reggio-Emilia
  • Examples of how to integrate and differentiate learning in the early years from ages 0-8
  • Experiences with the hundred languages in the hands-on studio areas
  • Opportunities to be creative, collaborate, and be guided by artists
  • Discussions about creativity and education
  • Chance to network and ask your burning questions
  • Ideas for the coming months and year
  • Certificate of participation

Location: Hazelton Manor (99 Peelar Road, Vaughan, ON, L4K 1A3 - 407 and Jane st.) - larger space that will accommodate for the hands on learning and mingling portion.

Location is subject to change depending on the numbers, but the format will remain the same.

If you register by Labour Day (September 5th, 2016), not only will you be entered to win some amazing educational products, but you will also receive a free copy of my TransformEd Tips and Tricks: Planning that Supports Integrated Learning package. Otherwise, copies will be sold at the session.  (This is in addition to the handouts that are part of our learning together.)

To celebrate 5 years of blogging, I am starting to produce some writing materials!

Thanks again to all who have registered! I am excited to have the opportunity to go deeper with the new Kindergarten Program document alongside you and to share meaningful ways for integrating learning.  It is also a real treat to prepare an inspiring hands-on learning environment for educators.  We (adults) are all still creative and curious children who continue to need chances to explore!  Let's learn together and inspire one another!
