It's almost TransformEd time 

and we are so excited to welcome back 

our students and families!

I wanted to provide a little update 

regarding our new creative classroom 

and studio school plans.

The Kleinburg Studio was a dream come true in many ways, but it was never meant to be our permanent location...  It was actually an investment property and renovation flip.  We therefore, timed the real estate market, and ended up selling a bit sooner than we had anticipated! 

There were several other reasons for moving the business, mainly the parking issues in such a busy neighbourhood, complaints for operating in a residential area (even with the Ministry approved at home childcare numbers/ratios), and lastly the lack of adequate outdoor learning spaces which is an essential component to any quality early childhood education offering.

In addition to this, my children were growing up quickly and required more of my attention.  And then there was also my PhD and an increased commitment to complete my program.  I realized that I couldn't run the studio full-time, leading over 12 staff members, while also parenting and pursuing my research/consulting opportunities.

I recognized that I am incredibly lucky to have had this time to dedicate to my own family and studies.  Closing the door temporarily to the studio, opened up other possibilities with my consulting services to present at daycares/private schools, as well as to teach Kindergarten educators at York University and Lakehead University.

This truly makes me appreciate that everything happens for a reason!  But that being said, I started to really miss teaching children and my connections in the community.

Though we have plans to expand in the future, the ideal plaza spot that I am considering is still not yet built.  It is taking a lot longer than promised, due to permitting delays!  Perhaps we will wait or find something else with more land.  Most importantly, I would just like to graduate first before taking this big step, so that I can pour my whole self into the next project!

In the meantime, I designed two indoor classrooms (a sunroom as seen above and new studio - maker space photographed throughout this blog post) on my home property for my own kids to learn.  We are very fortunate to live in an area that faces a beautiful farm with cornfields.  The outdoor space is nothing short of magical with wrap around evergreen trees and clear views of the sunrise/sunset.

We want to share this with our former students by offering part-time classes while I complete my PhD.

This new studio is more of a makerspace and our classes/programs will mainly focus upon school-aged children and alternative education options.  The rational for this is that after childcare and kindergarten, there aren't as many opportunities in the curriculum for play, inquiry, and fine arts experiences.  I hope to continue to inspire children's creativity and outside of the box thinking!  It is my personal mission to open up the possibilities for future entrepreneurship!     

Alternative Education -- Homeschooling Community  drop-in classes, programs or field trips will run during the school day (mornings or early afternoons).

*4 years old to 12 years old*

-Kindergarten to Grade 6 students can join our studio to follow the  Reggio Emilia approach and emergent curriculum (inquiry projects) based on their interests and unique learning styles.  There will be a strong focus on literacy (reading, writing, oral communication) and fostering critical thinking skills, as well as integrating the creative process (fine arts -- visual arts, dramatic arts, music, dance).

After-school clubs from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on week nights and 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on weekends:

*6 years old to 12 years old*

-Grade 1 to Grade 6 students can join our various clubs for homework, tutoring, crafting, painting, cooking, lego, science, barbie/dolls (simple sewing), woodworking, and yoga.

There will also be some programs offered for younger children as seen in our former spaces during the mornings or early afternoons:

-Alternative Education and Homeschooling Curriculum

-Exploring Everywhere for infants (3 months to 18 months)

-Discovery Days for toddlers (18 months to 2.5 years old)

-Preparatory Preschool for preschoolers (2.5 years old to 4 years old)

-Igniting Inquiry for kindergarteners (4 years old to 6 years old)

-Language Lessons for Greek, Italian, French or Spanish (All ages -- recommended for Kindergarten and up)

And finally Open Studio: Play and Create Drop-in Classes or Curious Children: Private Playdates for Mixed Ages and Stages will also be available.

We will be opening on Monday, April 22nd, 2024 for our first Spring monthly programs.

Weeks of April 22nd to May 13th, 2024.

We are also starting to take bookings for Summer 2024.

Weeks of July 1st to July 22nd, 2024.

June and August dates are still in the planning stages and will be released at a later time.
