Blog Description

This blog recounts the learning adventure of a kindergarten teacher and designated early childhood educator, who have become intrigued by the early childhood educational approach known as Reggio Emilia.  Although we can never replicate what they have accomplished in Reggio Emilia Italy, we have come a long way in our environmental transition!  Take a look at what our classroom looked like before, and how it compares to our day to day changes.  Maybe we will intrigue you!!

Hi Julie and Joanne, Wow! What exciting changes you have made to this environment. Just from looking at the photos, I find myself wanting to touch, explore and experience the calm and tranquility of the room. I love how the muted colours will enable the children and the documentation of their learning to provide the room's colour! AND I look forward to seeing how this environment evolves over time as you co-construct with the children.

Congratulations for having the courage to take such a giant leap in your investigation of the environment as the third teacher. And thank you for being willing to share your journey with us all!

  2. Hi Joanne,

I am so inspired by your blog and by all the work you've done so far. I am from Vancouver BC and I am going to teach kindergarten for the first time in September (a big switch from grade 5) and I fell in love with the Reggio Emilia approach. I've been reading so much about Reggio Emilia for the last couple of months and I am happy to have finally found some examples in Canada. I would really like to keep in touch with you if possible and ask you for advice once in while. Thank you and keep up the inspiring work.
