Celebrating our Pet Rabbit Inquiry

Students revisit documentation
and add to our audit trail:
Rabbit Road.

Rabbit Road, our audit trail that documents the process of our Pet Rabbit Inquiry has come to an end.  To celebrate our learning, the students came up with the idea of having a Rabbit Picnic.  They created invitations for their parents and were encouraged to bring foods similar to what a rabbit might like to eat (e.g., carrots, salad, dried fruits, etc.).  Many students also brought in their stuffed animal rabbits and we ensured that Hop (our rabbit) joined us outdoors!

This post is dedicated to our students who requested for their rabbit stuffed animals to be included on the blog.

Thank you to Ms. Sofos (our Teacher Candidate from York University) for her hard work with the Pet Rabbit Inquiry and for organizing this wonderful celebration!

Here are the rabbits that arrived to school for our Pet Rabbit Inquiry Celebration:

Ms. Sofos created a comic page on her Smart Board lesson to add to the students' growing anticipation:

Finally, we enjoyed our Rabbit Picnic with Hop...

Thank you to all of the families who made this day so special by participating!

Hop appreciated all the yummy foods that were brought in for her.

Curious about our audit trail?  Come and read about "Rabbit Road" during our Open House Event on Thursday, June 6th, 2013 at 6:00-8:00 p.m.

  1. The fabulous thing about this learning is that it will never actually come to an end...it is real learning that will be carried on throughout the children's lives...so inspiring!

  2. What a wonderful activity to celebrate such a fantastic inquiry! The comic book page got me thinking about point of view. It would be great to hear what all of the different rabbits were thinking and feeling. This could be a great opportunity for drama. Did the students try out anything like this? What else did they do on their special Rabbit Day?

P.S. The picnic reminded me of when I taught Kindergarten, and we used to have a Bunny Brunch for Easter. Students brought in healthy foods that rabbits would eat! The children loved it, and it was a great way to review healthy foods for Health.
